Laser hair removal
Bikini and Brazilian laser hair removal in Málaga
Bikini laser hair removal gives long-lasting, progressive reduction of hair along the bikini line, on the pubic area and, if you wish, the perianal area, using a diode laser with a cooled sapphire tip. At Narumi, in Málaga city centre, Marta Fernández carries it out in a private treatment room. You can choose a Brazilian or a Hollywood; each session takes 15 to 30 minutes and most people need 6 to 8, every 6–8 weeks.
- Duration
- 15–30 min, depending on how much you choose to treat
- Sessions
- Roughly 6–8; very dense pubic hair may need a few more
- How often
- Every 6–8 weeks
- How it feels
- One of the more noticeable areas at first; it eases as the hair thins out
What you can (and can't) expect
What it helps with
- Hair along the bikini line and pubic area, which grows back sparser and finer
- Razor rash, spots and itching in an area of constant friction
- Ingrown hairs in the bikini crease
- The dark shadow that shaved hair leaves under the skin
- The freedom to choose swimwear or underwear without de-fuzzing first
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't lighten darker skin in the bikini crease
- It doesn't work on grey or very light pubic hair
- It's never used on mucous membranes: only on the outer skin of the area
Is it right for you?
Ideal for
- Anyone who shaves their bikini line often and ends up with redness or spots
- Anyone who waxes and suffers ingrown hairs or soreness
- Anyone who wants to head to the beach or pool without thinking about their bikini line
- Athletes and dancers who wear close-fitting kit every day
When we don't carry it out
- Infection, active genital herpes, broken skin or irritation in the area
- Pregnancy
- Skin tanned from the beach, pool or sunbeds in the last 15 days
- Moles or lesions in the area that your dermatologist hasn't checked
- Over pubic tattoos: we protect them and work around them
- Photosensitising medication without your doctor's go-ahead
If you're unsure about your own situation, check with your doctor first. We'll go through it with you at your initial consultation.
Your session, step by step
-
Choosing your style
Before the first pulse we decide with you how far to go: bikini line, Brazilian or Hollywood, and whether to add the perianal area.
-
Shaving
Come shaved from the day before. If there's a tricky bit left, such as the perianal area, we'll tidy it up in the treatment room.
-
Privacy in the room
We only uncover the part we're treating at each moment; everything else stays covered.
-
Pulses section by section
We work in short sections, gently stretching the skin of the crease so the handpiece sits flat, and stop whenever you need.
-
Soothing
We apply a fragrance-free soothing product and explain what you'll notice over the next few days.
Choosing your shape before you start
The bikini area is where it’s most worth pausing to think before your first session. Pubic hair is usually coarse, dark and dense, which is exactly the profile that responds best to the diode, so the reduction shows early and lasts. That’s an advantage, but it also means the shape you choose now is the one you’ll have for years.
So at the first appointment we mark the boundaries with you, with the skin in view, rather than judging by eye mid-session. If you’re torn between a Brazilian and a Hollywood, we recommend starting with the more conservative shape. Going further later is easy; getting back hair that has already been reduced is not.
A sensitive area: how we work
The skin in the bikini area is thin, has creases and is under constant friction. Together with the density of the hair, that explains why it’s one of the more noticeable areas in the first sessions. We compensate in three ways:
- Short sections and taut skin. The handpiece sits better and the cooled sapphire tip chills each pulse.
- Energy set for your skin. On the skin of the crease, which often has a little more pigment, we’re more cautious.
- Breaks whenever you want them. There’s no rush. From the third or fourth session, with less hair, the discomfort drops noticeably.
Discretion is part of the treatment. We only uncover the part being treated, explain what we’re going to do before we do it, and you’re always seen by the same person. In an intimate area, that makes the difference between coming back with peace of mind and giving up on the plan.
Bikini line, hygiene and summer in Málaga
Many clients come to bikini laser for comfort: less hair means less trapped moisture, less rubbing against underwear and a fresher feeling that’s welcome in the hot months. And because it’s a covered area, it’s one of the few you can keep treating through summer with good swimwear and a little care.
If you’re also interested in your underarms, it makes sense to do them at the same appointment: they follow a similar session rhythm and there’s a package that combines them with the bikini and pubic area and, if you like, the perianal area. Prices for each option are in the table on this page. To understand why several sessions are needed and how your skin type plays a part, see our main page on laser hair removal in Málaga.

What our clients say
Frequently asked questions
Where can I get bikini or Brazilian laser in Málaga?
At Narumi, Calle Cristo de la Epidemia 33, in Málaga city centre, a few minutes' walk from La Victoria and El Ejido. We work in a private treatment room with a diode laser with a cooled sapphire tip, and Marta Fernández personally carries out the consultation and every session. For many clients it matters to know that, in such an intimate area, they'll always be seen by the same person.
What's the difference between a Brazilian and a Hollywood?
With a Brazilian we treat the bikini line and the sides of the pubic area, leaving a strip or triangle in the middle. With a Hollywood we treat the whole pubic area and the labia majora, and the perianal area can be added separately or as part of a package. If you're unsure, start with a Brazilian: you can always go further, but hair the laser has reduced won't grow back the same.
Can I have bikini laser during my period?
Yes, if you use a tampon or menstrual cup and feel comfortable; your period doesn't affect the laser. Bear in mind that skin can be more sensitive on those days, so you may feel the pulses a little more. If you'd rather not come in, just let us know in good time and we'll move your appointment, no problem at all. It's one of the most common questions, and you don't need to explain.
How should I shave before a bikini session?
With a clean razor, the day before, in the direction of hair growth to keep irritation to a minimum. Don't use hair removal cream in the days beforehand, as it can sensitise the skin just before the laser. If you can't reach a section, such as the perianal area, don't force it: we'll tidy it up in the room before we start. What matters is that the root is still there, so no waxing or tweezing.
Can the perianal area be treated?
Yes. It can be treated on its own or within the bikini, pubic, perianal and underarms package. It's a small area, quick to treat, and usually less uncomfortable than people expect. We approach it with the same discretion as everything else: we only uncover what's necessary at each moment and show you how to position yourself so you're comfortable.
I feel embarrassed: what's a session in such an intimate area like?
It's completely normal to feel that way the first time. In the treatment room we only uncover the part we're working on, explain each step before we do it and stop whenever you ask. Marta has been working in beauty for over 15 years and treats it naturally and respectfully. After the first session, almost everyone sees it as just another appointment.
Does laser lighten dark skin in the bikini area?
No. Darkening in the bikini crease is usually down to friction, shaving or hormonal factors, and laser hair removal isn't designed to lighten it. What does happen is that, once you stop shaving so often, the skin gets less irritated. If the mark changes or worries you, see your dermatologist; on skin with more pigment we adjust the settings cautiously.
Does it help with ingrown hairs in the bikini line?
It usually helps, because ingrown hairs form when a coarse hair that's been cut or pulled out grows back under the skin; with less hair, and finer hair, there are fewer chances for that to happen. If on the day of your appointment you have inflamed, painful or pus-filled spots, we wait for them to settle or ask you to see your doctor before treating that part.
Can I go to the beach or pool after bikini laser?
The pool from 48 hours afterwards, as chlorine irritates freshly treated skin. You can go to the beach, but for 15 days the area mustn't tan: in Málaga that means swimwear that covers well and SPF 50 along the edges. That's why the bikini line is one of the easiest areas to keep up in summer: it's almost always covered.
Can I switch from a Brazilian to a Hollywood partway through?
Yes, at any session. Bear in mind that the new section starts from scratch: it will need its own number of sessions, even if the rest of the area is well advanced. There's no going back the other way, so if you're not sure, start with a more conservative shape and extend it when you're certain.
