LED Light Facial in Málaga

An LED light facial is a beauty session in which low-intensity light in different colours is applied to the face, with no heat and nothing harsh touching the skin. At Narumi, in Málaga city centre, Marta Fernández uses it as an add-on: on its own as a radiance boost, or at the end of a deep-cleansing facial or peel to help the skin settle. A session lasts around 20 minutes and is usually booked as a short weekly course.

What you can (and can't) expect

What it helps with

  • Dull or tired-looking skin
  • A feeling of calm after a facial or a peel
  • Overall evenness and radiance of the complexion
  • Keeping up a facial routine when you don't want anything intense

What it doesn't do

  • It does not treat inflamed acne, rosacea or any skin condition
  • It does not erase pigmentation or deep wrinkles
  • On its own it won't noticeably firm the skin if sagging is already visible

Is it right for you?

Ideal for

  • Dull skin that wants extra glow without exfoliating treatments
  • Anyone after a very relaxing facial with no heat, needles or acids
  • As the finishing step after a deep-cleansing facial, diamond microdermabrasion or a peel
  • Sensitive skin that doesn't get on with more intense devices (after an assessment)

When we don't carry it out

  • Epilepsy or sensitivity to flashing light
  • Photosensitising medication (some antibiotics, oral isotretinoin, certain diuretics) or known photosensitivity
  • Eye conditions or ongoing eye treatment, unless your doctor has given the go-ahead
  • Pregnancy: we prefer not to carry it out
  • Lesions, moles or marks that have changed and haven't yet been checked by your dermatologist
  • Inflamed acne or rosacea flare-ups: please see your dermatologist

If you're unsure about your own situation, check with your doctor first. We'll go through it with you at your initial consultation.

Your session, step by step

  1. Quick assessment

We go over any medication, light sensitivity and what you're hoping for, and decide whether the LED session stands alone or follows another facial.

  2. Clean skin

We remove make-up and cleanse so there's no product between the light and your skin.

  3. Eye protection

We fit eye protection and choose the colour, or combination of colours, to suit your goal.

  4. Light session

Around 20 minutes lying back in the treatment room, without moving or feeling any heat; many people simply use the time to rest.

  5. Finishing

We apply moisturiser and sunscreen and explain how to carry on at home.

What an LED facial is and what to expect

An LED mask is a panel of diodes that emit visible light (and, on some devices, near-infrared light) at low intensity. Unlike a laser, it doesn’t focus energy on a single point or aim to heat the tissue: it simply bathes the face in soft light for a few minutes. In research, this use of light is called photobiomodulation, and scientists study how it influences the behaviour of skin cells. In a beauty salon our aims are more modest and more honest: the look of your skin, its radiance and the sense of calm after the session.

That’s why at Narumi we offer it as an add-on. It’s a lovely way to finish a more active facial or to keep your skin cared for between treatments, but it isn’t the tool for a specific concern. If you’re after better texture, smaller-looking pores or firmness, there are options with more to offer in the same treatment room.

The colours in brief

  • Red: the most widely used, to support calm and radiance, for example after a peel.
  • Blue: aimed at oilier skin, always outside an inflamed breakout.
  • Amber or yellow, green and others: associated with a more even tone and with reactive skin.

We choose the colour or combination at your assessment. No colour is “stronger” than another; there’s simply one that suits what you’re looking for better.

When it isn’t for you

Cosmetic LED light is one of the gentlest techniques we offer, but it isn’t for everyone. If you take medication that makes you sensitive to light, have photosensitive epilepsy or an eye condition, we won’t carry it out. And if what worries you is a lesion, a mark that’s changing or acne that leaves scars, the right next step is your dermatologist: the light in a beauty treatment room is no substitute for a diagnosis or medical treatment.

How we combine it at Narumi

Marta usually suggests it at the end of a deep-cleansing facial or a chemical peel, when the skin is clean and receptive, or as a short session for anyone wanting a moment’s pause without devices that heat or massage. If it’s your first visit, tell us about your routine at home: sometimes the clearest improvement comes not from the light but from adjusting your cleanser or sunscreen.

After your session

Aftercare

  • Wear sunscreen every day, as usual.
  • Keep to your normal routine; there's no need to change it.
  • If you use retinoids or acids at home, mention it at your assessment.
  • Let us know if you notice itching or redness that hasn't gone after a few hours.

It's normal to notice

  • Slight, short-lived redness or warmth in very reactive skin
  • Tired-feeling eyes if the eye protection is removed too early

Frequently asked questions

Where can I get an LED facial in Malaga?

At Narumi Estética Avanzada & Bienestar, Calle Cristo de la Epidemia 33, a few minutes' walk from the historic centre and La Victoria. We're a non-medical beauty salon: we use LED light as a wellbeing session and a facial add-on, not as a dermatological treatment. Book on WhatsApp or by phone on +34 611 500 328; we'll do our best to help in English.

How much does an LED facial cost?

The current price is in the price table on this page. If you'd like to combine it with another facial, we'll suggest the best option at your assessment; for many people it makes more sense to add it to the end of a deep-cleansing facial or a peel than to book it separately.

What does each colour of light do?

Broadly speaking, red light is associated with calm and radiance, blue with oilier skin, and other colours such as amber or green with a more even tone. These are cosmetic guidelines, not promises: results vary from person to person and depend on consistency. Our guide to LED colours explains it in more detail.

How many LED sessions will I need?

As a one-off add-on, a single session after another facial already makes sense. If you want to work on radiance, we usually suggest a course of 4 to 8 sessions, once or twice a week, followed by occasional top-ups. A single session mostly leaves your skin feeling calm rather than bringing lasting change.

Does LED light hurt or burn?

It doesn't burn. It's low-intensity light: most people feel nothing more than a little warmth, and your eyes are protected for the whole session. If your skin is very reactive, you may be left with slight redness that fades quickly.

Does LED light help with acne?

Blue light is used in beauty treatments for oilier skin, but we don't treat acne. If you have inflamed spots, cysts or breakouts that leave marks, please see your dermatologist, who is the right person to assess treatment. Once your acne is under control, we can support your routine with gentle sessions.

Is it the same as the light used in dermatology?

No. In dermatology, light is used under medical criteria and sometimes alongside photosensitising drugs (known as photodynamic therapy), which a beauty salon does not do. Our LED facial is low-intensity cosmetic care for the look of your skin.

Can I have an LED facial if I'm on medication?

It depends on the medication. Some increase sensitivity to light, such as certain antibiotics or oral isotretinoin, and in that case we won't go ahead. Bring the name of what you're taking to your assessment and, if in doubt, check with your doctor before booking.

Can I combine it with other treatments?

Yes, that's how it's most often used. It works well after a deep-cleansing facial, diamond microdermabrasion or a chemical peel, when the skin appreciates a calm finish. It can also come before a Kobido facial massage if you want a session focused on relaxation.

Is an at-home LED mask worth it?

It can help you stay consistent, but power and panel size vary a great deal between devices, and at home nobody assesses your skin or chooses the colour. If you have one, bring it along to your appointment and we'll advise you on how to use it without overdoing it.
