Lip Hydration Without Injections in Málaga
Narumi's lip hydration is an injection-free beauty treatment that combines superficial Dermapen microneedling with hydrating active ingredients. It's carried out by Marta Fernández at our salon in Málaga city centre. It leaves lips more hydrated, smoother and with better colour, and softens the look of fine lines. It doesn't add volume like a hyaluronic acid filler, which is a medical treatment. You can book a single session or a course of 3.
- Duration
- Around 45 min
- Sessions
- Single session or a course of 3
- How often
- Every 3–4 weeks during the course
- How it feels
- Fine, tolerable pricking; lips are a sensitive area
What you can (and can't) expect
What it helps with
- Hydration of dry, tight or chapped lips
- Texture: lips that look smoother and feel softer
- More even colour and a plumper-looking finish
- The look of fine lines on the lips
- How your lipstick sits, with less feathering
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't add volume or change the shape of the lips like a hyaluronic acid filler, which is a medical treatment
- It doesn't define the lip line in a lasting way
- It doesn't work on deep vertical lines around the mouth (so-called barcode lines)
Is it right for you?
Ideal for
- Lips that dry out easily from sun, wind or air conditioning
- Anyone who wants better-cared-for lips without injections
- Lips with fine lines where lipstick bleeds or feathers
- Before an event, leaving a few days' margin
When we don't carry it out
- An active cold sore or the warning stage of one (itching, tingling)
- Frequent cold sores: ask your doctor beforehand about preventive medication
- Wounds, deep cracks, cheilitis or any lesion on the lips
- Recent lip filler: wait for the time recommended by the doctor who carried it out
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Oral isotretinoin, anticoagulants or healing problems
- Known allergy to any of the active ingredients or to topical anaesthetic
- A mark or lesion on the lip that changes or doesn't heal: please see your dermatologist
If you're unsure about your own situation, check with your doctor first. We'll go through it with you at your initial consultation.
Your session, step by step
-
Assessment
We check the condition of your lips, whether you have a history of cold sores and whether you've had any treatment in the area, and explain what result is realistic.
-
Cleansing and preparation
We remove any balm or lipstick, cleanse the area and, if you need it, apply a topical anaesthetic to make the session more comfortable.
-
Superficial Dermapen
Using the Dermapen at a very shallow depth, we create micro-channels in the surface of the lip, working evenly across the whole vermilion.
-
Hydrating active ingredients
We apply the hydrating active ingredients to the freshly treated lip, which absorbs them better thanks to the micro-channels.
-
Soothing and aftercare advice
We finish with a soothing, repairing product and explain how to look after your lips over the following days.
Why lips get so dry
The skin on your lips is different from the rest of your face. It’s very thin, has hardly any oil glands and doesn’t produce its own protective layer of oil, so it loses water far more easily. On top of that, it’s exposed to the sun all year round, to constant friction from talking and eating, and to wind, air conditioning and central heating.
The result is familiar: tightness, flaky bits, fine vertical lines and duller colour. Lipstick bleeds into those lines and your lips look thinner than they really are.
How Dermapen works on the lips
Dermapen is a microneedling device: a head with very fine needles that creates micro-channels in the surface of the lip at a very shallow depth. Those micro-channels have two effects we’re interested in:
- They help the hydrating active ingredients we apply during the session to penetrate better, reaching where a balm can’t.
- They encourage surface renewal, so that over the sessions your lips look smoother and more even.
Nothing is injected and no material is placed beneath the skin. That’s why it doesn’t change the shape or size of your lips, and why it doesn’t carry the risks that come with a filler.
What results to expect (and what not to)
You’ll leave the session with your lips slightly red and warm. The next day they’ll feel softer and, as the course goes on, you’ll notice smoother texture, more even colour and fewer lines for lipstick to bleed into. Many people describe their lips as looking “juicier”.
What you won’t see is a change in volume or a more defined lip line. If that’s what you’re looking for, it’s a matter for medical aesthetics and needs to be assessed by a doctor. At Narumi, we’d rather tell you clearly before you book.
How to maintain it at home
The in-salon treatment goes much further if you pair it with a few simple habits: an SPF lip balm all year round (winter included), a very gentle exfoliation now and then, not biting or picking at flaky skin, and drinking water regularly.
After your session
Aftercare
- Don't wear lip make-up for the first 24 hours
- Apply the repairing balm we recommend frequently
- Avoid very spicy, salty or acidic food and very hot drinks on the first day
- Don't bite or pick at your lips if slight flaking appears
- Protect your lips from the sun with an SPF lip balm
- Drink water regularly: it helps maintain the result
It's normal to notice
- Lips slightly red and swollen for a few hours, which can make them look temporarily fuller
- A feeling of warmth or tightness on the same day
- Very fine flaking after 2–3 days
- Lip hydration €39
3-session package €90

What our clients say
Frequently asked questions
Where can I get a lip hydration treatment in Malaga?
At Narumi Estética Avanzada & Bienestar, Calle Cristo de la Epidemia 33, in central Málaga, a few minutes' walk from the historic centre and next to La Victoria, El Ejido and Olletas. It's carried out by Marta Fernández, an advanced aesthetics specialist with more than 15 years' experience. Book an appointment via WhatsApp, phone or our contact form.
How much does lip hydration cost?
You can book a single session or a 3-session package, which works out better value if you want the full course. Current prices are in the price table on this page. If you're not sure which option suits you, we'll advise you based on the condition of your lips.
Is it the same as lip filler?
No. Hyaluronic acid lip filler is an injection given by a doctor to add volume or change shape. Our lip hydration is an injection-free beauty treatment: it improves the hydration, texture and colour of the lips, but doesn't make them bigger. Narumi doesn't offer medical aesthetics.
Does it make lips bigger?
Not in a lasting way. Straight after the session your lips may look slightly fuller because of mild swelling, but that goes within hours. What you will notice are more hydrated, smoother lips that reflect light better, which is why they can look plumper. If volume is what you're after, you'll need a medical assessment.
How many sessions will I need?
A single session leaves your lips softer and more hydrated. For a more lasting improvement in texture and fine lines, we usually suggest a course of 3 sessions, around 3–4 weeks apart. After that, you can repeat a session every so often. Results vary from person to person and depend on how you care for your lips at home.
Does lip hydration hurt?
Lips are a sensitive area, so you'll feel fine pricking and some warmth. If you need it, we apply a topical anaesthetic before we start to make the session more comfortable. Most people tolerate it well and any discomfort goes once we finish.
Can I have it if I get cold sores?
Not with an active cold sore: you'll need to wait until it has fully healed. If you're prone to outbreaks, the treatment may trigger a new one, so check with your doctor beforehand about preventive medication and let us know when you book. We'd rather postpone an appointment than trigger an outbreak.
Can I have it if I've had lip filler?
Generally yes, as long as the time recommended by the doctor who did the filler has passed and your lips have fully settled. Tell us what you had done and when. Our treatment doesn't replace or touch up filler; it only works on the surface of the lips.
When can I wear lipstick again?
It's best to wait 24 hours before using lipstick, gloss or lip liner, so you don't apply products over freshly opened micro-channels. If you have an event, book your session at least two or three days beforehand so you arrive with no redness and your lips fully settled.
How long does the effect last?
Your lips feel more hydrated from day one, and the improvement in texture builds over the course. How long it lasts depends a great deal on sun, wind, smoking and your hydration habits. A daily SPF lip balm is what helps most to preserve the result.
