Hair-Stroke Eyebrow Microblading in Málaga
Microblading is a semi-permanent micropigmentation technique that draws fine, hair-like strokes to fill in and define the brows. At Narumi, a beauty salon in Málaga city centre, it's carried out by Marta Fernández, who is trained in micropigmentation and an expert in colour theory, after designing your brows to suit your features. It involves one session of around 2–3 hours plus a top-up at 4–8 weeks, and results usually last 12 to 18 months.
- Duration
- Around 2–3 hours for the first session (including the design)
- Sessions
- 1 session + top-up
- How often
- Top-up at 4–8 weeks; maintenance touch-up once the pigment fades
- How it feels
- Mild discomfort, like tiny scratches; a topical numbing product is applied
What you can (and can't) expect
What it helps with
- Gaps and sparse areas in the brows
- Shape and symmetry, with a design tailored to your face
- Definition for thin, fair or barely visible brows
- Time spent on make-up every day: you wake up with your brows done
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't last forever: the pigment fades over time and needs maintenance
- It doesn't make brow hair grow
- On very oily skin the strokes tend to blur, so the result looks less crisp
- It won't fully cover old micropigmentation that's very dark or has turned reddish or greyish
Is it right for you?
Ideal for
- Sparse brows, brows with gaps or an uneven shape
- Very fair brows that barely show
- Anyone who fills in their brows every day and would like to skip that step
- People with brow hair loss looking for a natural look, after checking with their doctor if there's a health cause
When we don't carry it out
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- A tendency to keloid scars or healing problems
- Anticoagulant medication or clotting disorders
- Oral isotretinoin in recent months: you'll need your doctor's go-ahead
- Uncontrolled diabetes, chemotherapy or radiotherapy, or conditions affecting the immune system, without medical approval
- Dermatitis, psoriasis, cold sores, wounds or irritation in the brow area
- Known allergy to pigments or topical anaesthetics
- Recent medical treatments or peels on the forehead or brows: wait for the time your doctor recommends
If you're unsure about your own situation, check with your doctor first. We'll go through it with you at your initial consultation.
Your session, step by step
-
Assessment and client record
We go over your health, skin type and expectations, and explain in detail the process, aftercare and a realistic result in your case. You sign the informed consent form.
-
Brow design
Marta measures your face and draws your brows to suit your facial structure, eye shape and natural expression. You see them drawn on and we adjust them together until you're happy.
-
Choosing the pigment
Using colour theory, we choose the shade to suit your hair, your natural brow hair and your skin's undertone, so the pigment heals to a harmonious colour.
-
Hair-stroke technique
Using a single-use manual microblade, the strokes are placed in the superficial layer of the skin, following the direction of your natural hairs.
-
Aftercare and top-up
We explain your at-home aftercare and book your top-up for 4–8 weeks later, once the skin has healed and we can see how the pigment has settled.
The design is half the result
Brows that are well drawn but badly designed won’t flatter you. That’s why microblading at Narumi starts with a pencil, not a blade. Marta applies the principles of face mapping: she studies the structure of your face, the distance between your eyes, the height of your eyelids and your usual expression, and marks where each brow should start, arch and end. The aim isn’t an on-trend brow but one that will still suit you in a few years’ time.
Her experience as a professional make-up artist, with a master’s in make-up, helps her see the brows as part of the whole face, just as she would for bridal or event make-up: thickness, arch and density are decided while also looking at your eyes and features.
Why colour theory matters so much
Pigment doesn’t look the same in the bottle as it does in the skin. It sits beneath a layer of skin that acts like a filter, and over time its components fade at different rates. The wrong choice can leave you with brows that look greyish, bluish or reddish a few months later.
Marta is an expert in colour theory. She chooses the shade by considering your hair colour and brow hair, and above all your skin’s undertone (warm, cool or neutral), and adjusts the blend so the pigment fades towards a natural colour. It’s one of the least visible parts of the job, and one that makes the biggest difference in the long run.
What to expect while it heals
How brows change in the first few weeks surprises almost everyone, so it’s worth knowing what’s coming:
- Days 1 to 4. Your brows look darker and thicker than they will end up. This is normal.
- Weeks one and two. The skin flakes in fine scales and the colour seems to disappear in places. This is the time to leave them alone.
- Weeks 3 and 4. The pigment “reappears” as the skin finishes renewing, and you can see the true shade.
- Top-up. At 4–8 weeks, any lighter strokes are evened out and the intensity is adjusted.
Hygiene and safety
We use single-use materials for every client and follow a strict hygiene protocol in the treatment room. The salon is authorised to carry out micropigmentation and Marta is trained in it. Before we start, you sign an informed consent form and, if you have any of the health conditions on the contraindications list, we’ll ask you to check with your doctor first.
After your session
Aftercare
- Keep the area clean and follow the written aftercare instructions we give you to the letter
- Don't scratch or pick at scabs or flaking skin
- Avoid direct sun, the beach, swimming pools, saunas and heavy sweating for at least two weeks
- Don't apply make-up, creams with acids or retinol to your brows until the skin has healed
- Once healed, protect your brows from the sun: it's what makes pigment fade fastest
- Come to your top-up even if your brows look fine: it's part of the treatment
It's normal to notice
- Redness and slight swelling for the first few hours
- A darker, more intense colour for the first few days, which lightens as it heals
- Fine flaking and some itching during weeks one and two
- Areas where the pigment looks lighter after healing, which are evened out at the top-up

What our clients say
Frequently asked questions
Where can I get eyebrow microblading in Malaga?
At Narumi Estética Avanzada & Bienestar, Calle Cristo de la Epidemia 33, in Málaga's Distrito Centro, a few minutes' walk from the historic centre and next to El Ejido and La Victoria. The salon holds the authorisation required for micropigmentation, and it's carried out by Marta Fernández, who is trained in the technique. Book your assessment via WhatsApp, phone or our contact form.
How much does microblading cost?
The prices for microblading and the top-up are in the price table on this page; if they show as "Consultar" (price on request), it's because they depend on the assessment of your brows. Send us a photo of your brows without make-up on WhatsApp and we'll advise you. Before we start, you'll know exactly what's included.
How long does microblading last?
It usually lasts between 12 and 18 months, fading gradually. Skin type (it lasts less on oily skin), sun exposure, using acids or retinol on your face and whether you have the top-up all make a big difference. Once the strokes lose definition, a maintenance touch-up is done.
Why do I need a top-up?
Because every skin holds pigment differently and, as it heals, some strokes end up lighter than others. The top-up, at 4–8 weeks, evens out those areas, adjusts the intensity and refines small details of the design. It's part of the treatment, not an optional extra.
Does microblading hurt?
You'll feel mild discomfort, similar to tiny scratches on the skin. We apply a topical numbing product before and during the treatment to make it more comfortable. Sensitivity varies a lot from person to person and is usually higher in the days before your period, so it's worth bearing in mind when you book.
How many sessions will I need?
One main session, in which the full brow is designed and worked, plus a top-up at 4–8 weeks. After that, maintenance depends on how the pigment fades in your skin: many people have a touch-up after one or two years.
Can I see how it will look beforehand?
Yes. Before touching your skin, Marta draws your brows in pencil according to the proportions of your face and adjusts them with you until you're happy. You also choose the pigment shade together. We don't start until you love the design.
Who can't have microblading?
We don't carry it out during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you're prone to keloids or poor healing, if you take anticoagulants, if you've recently taken isotretinoin, or if you have any lesion or dermatitis in the area. With conditions such as diabetes or cancer treatment, we need your doctor's go-ahead.
Does it work on oily skin?
It can be done, but it's worth knowing that on very oily skin the strokes tend to spread and blur as they heal, and the pigment doesn't last as long. We'll tell you at your assessment: in some cases the result won't be as crisp as you'd hope, and we'd rather say so up front than waste your time.
Is microblading the same as micropigmentation?
Microblading is a type of micropigmentation. The difference is the tool: microblading is done by hand, with strokes that mimic hair, while machine micropigmentation uses an electric device and usually gives a more shaded, powdered effect. At Narumi we offer hair-stroke microblading.
What if I already have old brow micropigmentation?
It depends on its condition. If it has faded considerably and kept a neutral tone, it can sometimes be worked over. If it's very dark or has turned reddish, grey or bluish, microblading won't cover it, and it may need lightening first with other techniques. Come to your assessment without brow make-up.
